In 1994 to 2000, Pathologists Overseas recruited volunteer pathologists to cover the anatomic pathology service at Patan Hospital in Kathmandu .
Kenya was the site of Pathologists Overseas’ first project. From 1991 to 1995, PO established a functional histopathology service in Nairobi that received specimens from over 30 regional hospitals.
The project in Eritrea was initiated after consultation with Melles Seyoum, the Director of the National Health Laboratory (NHL).
PO was involved in several initiative in Bhutan, a country that had only two practicing pathologists.
Today, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital offers surgical pathology, cytology, immunohistochemistry, frozen section services, and a residency program, continuing the work that Dr. Coppin and his team began.
