About

For over 35 years, Pathologists Overseas has provided sustainable and high-quality pathology and laboratory medicine (PALM) support programs. We partner with healthcare providers and laboratories in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) to strengthen diagnostic services, quality, and human resources.

Based on extensive fieldwork, we have found that strengthening systems and enhancing diagnostic capacity yield the greatest impact and long-term sustainability. Our work frequently focuses on areas such as quality assurance processes, laboratory information systems (LIS), reagent procurement systems, and continuing professional development.

Our programs target the 3 pillars of PALM quality: human resources, systems, and quality and accreditation. We improve human resources by providing virtual continuing professional development (CPD)to pathologists and laboratory professionals in partner countries. To improve systems, we provide laboratory information system installation (LIS) and implementation support. Lastly, to improve quality and help laboratories progress toward accreditation, we support an external quality assurance (EQA) program.
