George Kwaku Darko is an accomplished Medical Laboratory Scientist with over a decade of experience in clinical laboratory practice. He holds a Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Medical Laboratory Science degrees from the University Of Cape Coast, Ghana and the University for Development Studies, Ghana respectively and is also World Health Organization (WHO)-certified Malaria Microscopist.
George spearheaded the implementation of the first-ever Quality Management System at the Northern Regional Hospital Laboratory in Tamale, Ghana, an initiative that significantly improved laboratory operations. His exceptional leadership in this project earned him recognition as the hospital’s Quality Improvement Focal Person, where he successfully implemented the 5S Kaizen methodology under a Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)-sponsored project.
He also worked with FlyZipline Ghana Limited, a company leveraging drone technology to deliver blood, vaccines and medical supplies to hard-to-reach healthcare facilities. In his dual role as a training and onboarding specialist, George trained and on boarded over 200 health facilities, enhancing healthcare delivery in underserved communities.
Currently, George is pursuing a Master of Philosophy degree in Health Systems Research and Management at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). His professional interests focus on quality improvement in diagnostic services and advancing technology investments to strengthen healthcare facilities.
George enjoys going on road trips and is a fan of football.
